Factory equipment includes a locking center differential, a front skid plate, 16-inch black “Castor” alloy wheels, a Safety Devices safari roof rack, a rear door-mounted step ladder, a tow hitch receiver, and more as detailed below.

Similarly equipped Discoveries were used in the TReK Challenge, a Camel Trophy-lite event for dealers in the U.S., and were equipped with unusually low specifications including a smooth roof with no sunroofs or rails.
Power comes from a 4.0-liter V8, rated at 182 horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to all four wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4-wheel drive system with a 2-speed transfer
